The Two Georges
Production Financing & Packaging
Laissez Faire à Georges!
Ever since Louis XII entrusted the day-to-day running of France to his prime minister, Cardinal Georges d'Amboise, the delegation of demanding tasks has fallen to a “George,” someone willing to take on the responsibility. Following this tradition, The Two Georges, a new independent film and television production company, has been established to alleviate filmmakers of the burden of packaging and financing. One George focuses on packaging, while the other manages financing. The team maintains relationships with leading talent and has the means to fund budgets of up to $25 million USD.
The Financing Vehicle
The Two Georges finances films through a combination of pre-sales and state tax incentives. Pre-sales involve selling distribution rights to international distributors in various territories before production begins, based on the project's marketability, including its script, cast, and director. State tax incentives provide rebates or credits on a percentage of production expenses incurred in specific locations, encouraging shoots in states like New Mexico or Louisiana. These agreements or credits are sold to third parties for cash in advance of production (a practice known as 'discounted paper'), providing operating capital to start filming. Once the film is completed, the buyers of these agreements/credits collect the committed funds.
Produced by George
The Two Georges’ film and television credits include The Wicker Man, 16 Blocks, Today You Die, Home of the Brave, Rambo, Escape Plan, Lone Survivor, Heist, Encino Man, The Whole Shebang, Dogmatic, and Hearts of Darkness: a Filmmakers’ Apocalypse.
What are the Two Georges Looking for?
The Georges are currently considering completed YA-themed screenplays appropriate for streaming services such as Amazon Prime, Hulu, and Netflix. Genre-wise, they are sourcing female-led action thrillers like Jolt, Canary Black, The Old Guard, and Atomic Blond, or sophisticated romcoms like Upgraded and Set It Up. Submissions must be completed theatrical screenplays. Branded IP is also of interest to the Georges. Examples include graphic novels, video games, TV series, and past theatrical films. If your project fits the template, send the Georges a short synopsis or have your representation reach out. Please DO NOT send unsolicited screenplays, as they will not be read.
